“I am not so weak as to submit to the demands of the age when they go against my convictions. I spin a cocoon around myself; let others do the same. I shall leave it to time to show what will come of it: a brilliant butterfly or maggot.”
~Caspar David Fredrich (1774-1840)

Welcome To

THE MILETIAN

img_0704img_3038This website, named after the ancient Greek city of Miletus, home to the first historians, logographers, will play host to the articles I write. As a student of British politics and a past Parliamentary intern in both the Commons and Lords my interests are mainly political though extend on that topic through from constitutional politics to the more historical aspect of international events. I write articles entirely for my own pleasure as a way to further my understanding of subjects that I find interesting and that may not be receiving much interest in the mainstream media.

My particular areas of interest are the Middle East, Africa, the UK Parliament, with a particular focus on the House of Lords, British Overseas Territories and the Commonwealth. Articles will largely focus on these areas and topics but I may deviate if something attracts my attention.

‘Nothing has such power to broaden the mind as the ability to investigate systematically and truly all that comes under thy observations in life’
