The History Page

augustusHistory is my first love and has been since I was a young boy geeking out over the Titanic. It comes from a passion for wanting to know why things are as they are and, in a political rather than engineering sense, understand how things work.

The society we live in is a product of both our actions and the actions of those who came before us. It shapes us and we in turn shape it. History is inescapably human. It is built up of hundreds of millions of individual stories centred around events, places, people and ideas and to understand the world around us, and perhaps to better shape the future, one must know where it came from and what events, places, people and ideas formed it.

This section of the blog is dedicated to more overtly ancient history.
